CHILD CARE WORKER

 

We are looking for a part-time child care worker. The position requires you to work 16 hours a week and the schedule is Saturday 3-11 and Sunday 7-3. We prefer that you have some experience with children. Most  but not all candidates are working on their Bachelors or Masters degree in the field of social services.

 

We are a residential treatment facility for boys and girls ages 6-14. Children live in our residential program for an average of 14 months. These children are experiencing some behavioral and/or emotional difficulties in their lives. They are in the custody of the State due to some abuse or neglect in most cases. They have lived in many places and experienced much failure in their short lives. We work with them on their trauma with the goal to return them home, to a foster home, or an adoptive home.

 

In this position you will work with a group of up to seven children. You will work with another child care worker providing therapeutic supervision to these children. You will aid them in getting through the daily routine, provide them discipline, help them process during crisis, and help them to build trusting relationships with adults.
