We are looking for a therapist to work in an innovative, nationally-recognized residential treatment center for children between the ages of 5 and 14 who are experiencing significant difficulties in functioning at home, in school, or in the community.  We are located in Los Lunas, a rural community about 15 miles south of Albuquerque, NM.  The facility is located in a homelike setting, with horses and two riding arenas, dogs, swimming pool, art and music studios, tennis/basketball court, etc. 

 

Our goal as treatment providers for children with attachment issues is to create an environment in which care and nurture are hard to resist.  Our treatment model encourages the development of close personal relationships, while confronting behaviors that interfere with that closeness.

 

The successful candidate will be one who genuinely conveys warmth, compassion, and caring, yet can also set clear limits.  He or she enjoys working as a team player, and has exceptional people skills as well as a positive outlook.  Our candidate loves new challenges, and generates creative solutions and new ideas.

 

Our therapists spend considerable time integrated into the milieu, where close personal relationships are built and corrective emotional experiences can occur on an ongoing basis.  In addition, therapists conduct staffings, create treatment plans, provide individual and family therapy, and complete a modest amount of required documentation in a timely manner.  They also communicate regularly with families and referral sources.
