Counseling Department Program Director
Counseling Department Program Director
Job Description: The Director of Counseling will be responsible for the management, planning, and development of counseling/mental health programs and services consistent with the vision and mission of the agency that addresses the needs of the community. The position oversees and plans program activities to meet service goals contract requirements, including program documentation and reporting, researches, develops, and maintains funding resources for Counseling Department, prepares contract and proposal documents as required, and participate in contract negotiations.
The position is also responsible for overall budget development and management of expensesm and is responsible for periodic progress reports to funders to meet contractual requirements. The counseling program director is the representive of the Counseling program at interagency, community and contractor meetings and will take the lead is building departmental capacity; and developing linkages with government agencies private sector organizations, and other CBOs. This is a full time position.
Qualifications: Master?s degree in Social Work, Counseling, or related
field required.Licensed LCSW, MFT preferred. Minimum of 5 years
experience in counseling and mental health services primarily in community-
based organizations or public agencies. Minimum of 3 years demonstrated
supervisory ability and experience with responsibility for staff training and
development.
The candidate should have strong community orientation with demonstrated
knowledge and experience providing effective mental health and counseling
services to monolingual and limited-English Asian and other immigrant
children and families. The candidate should also have demonstrated
leadership, ability to prioritize and problem-solve under pressure, and have
solid administrative and organizational skills. Must have demonstrated
knowledge and experience in the management of government
contracts and requirements, including proposal and contract preparations
and budget preparation and management. Experience organizing, managing
and leading multi-agency collaboratives and consortia. Previous experience
with developing collaborative preventative programs and social service
agency networking, particularly in school-basedsettings.
Exceptional communication, presentation, and writing skills. Bilingual and
bicultural; ability to speak fluently in English and Chinese (Cantonese and/or
Mandarin desirable).
