Position Description
Reports to: Director of Education
GENERAL Responsibilities: Full time
To increase the number and frequency of family and professional caregiver educational programs and support services to the Hispanic-Latino community in Southern New Jersey.
ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS Plan, coordinate and implement dementia-specific educational programs for Alzheimer family caregivers in the Southern New Jersey area with a specific focus on the Hispanic-Latino community.Actively recruit and train new Speakers Bureau members in an effort to provide a variety and frequency of quality educational programs. Provision of Contact Center/Helpline services to caregivers on a service-wide basis in concert with Helpline Coordinator. Recruit new support group facilitators, especially in the Hispanic/Latino community, through community outreach to healthcare facilities, physicians? offices, religious organizations, local publications and referrals.Assist in the recruitment, orientation, training and retention of volunteers for the following core service and chapter functions: Contact Center/Helpline; Support Groups; Family Caregiver Training; Speakers Bureau; Multicultural and rural outreach; community education. Maintain and coordinate the collection of records of support groups and educational programs attendees. Assist in the marketing and promotion of all Chapter programs, services and special events. Organize and implement Family Caregiver Training in the seven counties of Southern New Jersey targeting the Hispanic/Latino community. Assist in the planning, coordination and implementation of the Annual Caregiver Conference.Form a South Jersey Multicultural Program Committee and related activities. Create opportunities for new outreach initiatives to extend Chapter programs and services to the Hispanic-Latino community.Act as a responder to Safe Return wandering incidents across the chapter as prescribed in chapter protocol. Plan and assist in Safe Return registration drives in South New Jersey in conjunction with the Safe Return Coordinator. Attend staff and program meetings. Liaison with program and service personnel in Philadelphia and other regional branch offices. Create and submit monthly, quarterly and year-end program/service statistical and narrative reports in a timely fashion.Maintain and grow the chapter-wide ?Partnering with your Physician Program?and ?Maintain Your Brain? program .Market and conduct the Chapter?s professional training. Other duties, as assigned.Maintain and submit all educational outcomes to our Chapter Headquarters in accordance with CSQEI/LASRmetrics protocols.
QUALIFICATIONS
Able to provide oral and written translation of all Chapter Programs and Services materials to the Hispanic-Latino communityBachelor?s degree in Social Work, Health Education, Counseling or other health related field required, Master?s preferred. A firm commitment to working as a team member with service/program coordinator, administrators, office staff and volunteers. A commitment to confidentiality. Excellent writing and public speaking skills. Interface with media outlets to promote community awareness- TV, radio, newspapers other publications. Organizational, management, interpersonal and public relations skills.Basic computer skills.Knowledge of the Branch office area to be served.Knowledge of Alzheimer's disease, support groups and caregiving skills. Ability to be flexible and work independently.Flexibility in scheduling. Must have a dependable car and valid driver?s license.
