Medical Social Worker

We are currently seeking a Part Time Benefitted Social Worker in the acute care hospital. Position is Monday through Friday 9:00a to 3:00p.

Provides direct and indirect services to meet the psychosocial needs of patients and their families, to include: Premature infants, infants, pediatrics, adolescents, young, middle and older adults at Little Company of Mary - San Pedro Hospital.

1. Requires completion of an accredited Masters Program in Social Work with Clinical Social Work licensure by
the California Board of Behavioral Sciences preferred.
2. Requires 2-5 years experience in healthcare related setting with patient population in area of service.
3. Requires advanced communication skills to communicate effectively with patients, hospital staff,
physicians and the community. Must be able to fluently speak, read, write and understand English.
4. Knowledgeable of community resources with discharge planning experience preferred
5. Two years of recent acute hospital experience strongly preferred.
6. Requires flexibility and strong self motivation/organizational skills to prioritize work and make
decisions with minimal supervision.
7. Bilingual in Spanish preferred.
8. Requires computer experience/literacy as needed for the job.
9. Must be able to perform the physical requirements of the position as defined by the RU-91 form.
10. Requires a courteous and cooperative service-oriented demeanor.
