SUPERVISING CLINICIAN

The purpose of this position is to provide clinical supervision to licensed clinicians, interns, and Master's level students in the Behavioral Health Children's Center programs. The duties will also include Quality Care issues, the Utilization Review process, and Education and Training needs associated with the supervision of clinicians.

The position is responsible for providing supervision and direction to clinicians that are giving direct mental health services to families and children under a contract with the Sacramento County Department of Health and Human Services. In addition, the incumbent is expected to provide some direct services to families and children. Because of the guidelines and regulation under the contract and Medi-Cal, the incumbent is required to oversee the documentation of the clinicians and ensure accuracy. It is expected that a minimum of 25% of the incumbent's time be spent in activities that can be billed to Medi-Cal.

PRINCIPLE ACCOUNTABILITIES

Provides direct and indirect clinical supervision of clinicians, interns and students.

Provides on-the-job training to new clinicians and consultation as needed for all clinicians.

Reviews clinic charts to ensure that they meet all governmental and legal requirements.

Develops and implements plans for clinical case review.

Reviews and revises client assessment/treatment plans and discharge plans provided by other clinical staff, as needed.

Assigns and tracks caseloads of clinicians, interns and students.

Assists in establishing Quality and Utilization Review procedures.

Assists with the identification of staff training needs and provides training/education to clinicians.

Attends meetings/trainings inside and outside the organization that are pertinent to this position.

Provides direct client treatment and services as described for Clinical Psychiatric Counselor position.

JOB REQUIREMENTS

This position requires graduation from an accredited college or university with a Master's degree in an appropriate behavioral science discipline. Incumbent must have a current and unrestricted license in the State of California as a Clinical Social Worker, Clinical Psychologist, or a Marriage and Family Therapist; a minimum of two years post licensure experience; and meet the requirements of the Board of Behavioral Science for approved clinical supervision including the maintenance of coursework for supervision. Prior supervisory experience is highly preferred.
