Successful candidate will completes complex, non-routine work under general supervision. (e.g. MD OOS). With general guidance, develops testing procedures for complete characterization of drug product or raw material. Conduct testing of pharmaceutical products, bulk drug substances and intermediates using moderately complex methods for which little precedence exists. Expert in multiple laboratory techniques. Introduces techniques new to Cardinal Health. Requires contact with departments, vendors, sponsors or the public. May require formal presentations to co-workers or sponsors. Usually supplies and seeks information where exceptional tact and courtesy is needed. Must be capable of writing clear, concise, technical reports.

Essential duties:

*Begins to act as a technical resource within company/division*

*Begins to develop scientific process, understanding and skills*

*Begins to draft substantial technical reports (results, discussions & conclusions)*

*Create simple SOP/ICP where little precedence exists.*

Responsible for the collection and transfer of hazardous waste outlined in annual training and hazardous waste guidelines.

Expert in multiple laboratory techniques.

Introduces new techniques to Magellan.

Documents all laboratory work to meet Cardinal standards.

Conducts Peer reviews.

Follows all applicable SOPs, ICPs.

Modifies existing SOPs, ICPs.

Authors SOPs, ICPs which little precedent exists.

Actively participates on several teams.

Occasional overnight travel required.

Develops training procedures for complex and new techniques.

Able to work effectively on any laboratory team.

Able to write reports where little or no precedent exists.

Ability to organize time for multiple tasks.

Doctoral Degree or Associates, Bachelor' or Masters Degree in Chemistry or closely related physical science from a four year college/university or equivalent education and job experience. PHD requires zero years experience
and five to ten years related experience and/or training required for other degrees.
