Therapist

Therapist will provide intensive, home-based, individual treatment utilizing Multi-systemic Therapy for adolescents residing in Jefferson Parish.As well as, home-based therapy sessions, school and job monitoring, individual therapy as needed, psychiatric evaluation, and any additional services deemed appropriate. The treatment interventions last approximately 4-6 months per family.

 

Responsibilities:Conduct assessments including review of referral information, identifying and engaging key participants, identifying systemic strengths and weaknesses, and developing an analysis of the fit of problems behaviors within the ecological context. Engage primary caregiver and other key participants in active change-oriented treatment and overcoming barriers to engagement. Implement problem conceptualization, treatment planning, intervention implementation, outcome review and strategy revision procedure. Maintain clear and concise documentation of treatment efforts that promote peer and supervisory review and feedback. Collaborate with all relevant systems and key participants within each system to ensure their buy-in and cooperation throughout MST treatment. Provide direct clinical treatment using methods compatible with MST Principles and Practices.  Participate in all MST training, supervision, and consultation activities.

 

Skills:

Excellent verbal and written communication is a necessity. Ability to interact professionally with consumers, their families, and other professionals is essential.  Ability to work with a team and demonstrate flexibility. Willing to travel on a daily basis to the homes of families, as well as to facilities.  Ability to work in a crisis situation.  Possess and demonstrate excellent organizational skills.  Ability to tolerate extensive feedback and clinical supervision and to incorporate this feedback into future interventions is essential.

Educational Requirements:

A Master degree is Psychology, Social Work, Counseling or a related subject area.  Persons with a related bachelor?s degree and significant clinical experience in treating antisocial behavior in youth may also qualify.
