Administrative Assistant

The George Washington University Medical Faculty Associates (MFA) is searching for Administrative Assistants to work in the Department of Medicine.

The incumbents will make patient appointments; arrange and coordinate all preoperative appointments; contact primary care physician and request necessary referrals for testing; gather all results from preoperative appointments before surgery; schedule patients"&tm; surgery; Pre-certify all surgical procedures; send surgical orders to the PASS unit; gather all path reports and operative reports for post-op visits; prepare charts and bills; arrange transfer of patients from other hospitals; mail out all clinical correspondence for physicians; gather demographics on patients for billing; find all diagnosis codes for all surgical and office bills; verify that all surgeries have been billed; keep list of all surgical procedures and ICU billing performed by physicians.

Required Skills:
High school diploma or equivalent; knowledge of medical terminology; Experience working with patient records, billing and clinical scheduling; Three years of secretarial experience in a healthcare setting; Typing skill of 50-60WPM required.
