Collections Supervisor (5155)

Job Description: Perot Systems Corporation is a worldwide provider of information technology services and business solutions to a broad range of clients. We are currently looking for a Collections Supervisor to join our team in Chicago, IL.

Job Responsibilities:
Provides supervision for and coordinates and directs daily collection activities.
Supervises and directs the daily workflow of collectors and support staff.
Performs quality assurance checks and monitors productivity. Provides feedback to staff and makes recommendations on quarterly incentive pay. Works with management and the patient accounting staff to improve processes, increase accuracy, create efficiencies and achieve the overall goals of the department.

Additional Responsibilities:

Provides assistance to staff when needed.

Approves time off requests and provides relief when necessary to ensure adequate coverage

Prepares semi-monthly payroll reports and controls overtime.

Assists in interviewing prospective employees and makes hiring recommendations.

Assesses training needs and coordinates in-service training for staff.

Assists in the development of departmental policies and procedures.

Conducts regular staff meetings.

Performs quality assurance checks and monitors productivity. Provides feedback to staff and makes recommendations on quarterly incentive pay.

Conducts a formal annual employee performance evaluation and makes recommendations for merit increases.

Performs employee counseling and takes necessary corrective action

Responsible for continuing education and professional growth to stay abreast of industry changes. Works with management and the patient accounting staff to improve processes, increase accuracy, create efficiencies and achieve the overall goals of the department.

As requested, participates in general or special assignments.

Successfully complete any required training, completes on-line training as assigned.

Required Skills:

Bilingual capability (English/Spanish) helpful

Ability to foster a cooperative work environment

Strong interpersonal/public relations skills and the ability to work effectively with a wide range of customers in a diverse environment and occasionally handle the hostile or disgruntled patient

Advanced working knowledge of hospital billing and collection procedures

Advanced knowledge of Medicare/Medicaid regulations

Advanced knowledge of Commercial and Managed Care payers

Basic knowledge of CPT, HCPCS, and ICD-9-CM coding

Basic knowledge of available community programs and grants

Demonstrated skill in analytical problem solving and the ability to solve moderate math problems with complete accuracy

Demonstrated ability sufficient to function easily in a variety of hospital patient accounting and billing systems

Working knowledge of PC applications (Outlook, Word, Excel, Access)

Knowledge of organizational structure, workflow, and operating procedures

Strong oral and written communication skills

Strong organization and time management skills

Ability to establish priorities effectively

Dependable in production and attendance

Previous experience in a supervisory role

Desired Skills:

Bachelor's degree

Minimum Educational Requirements:

High School Diploma or equivalent
