Dental Office Receptionist/Admininstrative Assistant

Full Time Dental receptionist
SUMMARY
Responsible for greeting and registering patients, collecting co-pays and scheduling appointments.
RESPONSIBILITIES
1. Greets all incoming patients with a smile and warm hello.
2. Registers patients by gathering, verifying and entering in demographic and insurance information.
3. Obtains signed registration sheets, permissions to file claims, releases, etc.
4. Reviews schedules for referrals needed, obtains those that the office takes responsibility for and works with patients to obtain others.
5. Ensures all charts are located and available for scheduled appointments.
6. Collects co-payments and personal payments.
7. Prepares day sheet and balances cash drawer each day.
8. Handles inquiries about insurances accepted, office hours, services, locations, exam fees, doctor information, etc.
9. Verifies upcoming appointments.
10. Handles telephone receptionist responsibilities as needed.
11. Maintains personal reference book on insurance companies and coverage.
12. Assists other patient service staff as needed.
PERFORMANCE STANDARDS
1. Greets patients promptly and professionally.
2. Properly triages patients and visitors.
3. Responds easily to routine requests for information.
4. Maintains patient confidentiality at all times and communicates with the Compliance Officer regarding procedural changes and concerns.
5. Participates in professional development efforts to remain current on insurance coverage and regulation matters.
6. Cooperates and communicates with all staff members and physicians about patient matters.
7. Obtains the necessary demographic information, insurance information, referrals, consents and co-payments.
8. Issues proper receipts and maintains balanced drawer.
9. Complies with all other office policies and procedures including punctuality, attendance and dress codes. Attends all required meetings.
WORK QUALITIES
Position requires accuracy, thoroughness, and an understanding of insurance and patient care. Work is fast paced and multi-tasked. Requires ability to work as a team member.
QUALIFICATIONS
? High school diploma or GED. AAS preferred.
? Must have good customer services skills as well as verbal and written communications skills.
? Skill in operating computer, word processing software, fax machines and copier machines. Prior experience with Dentrix* software a plus.
? Alphabetizing and spelling skills a must.
? Three years of work experience, some of which is preferably in a medical office setting.
? Prior experience in a dental or medical office preferred but willing to train an excellent candidate.
