 Systems Status ControllerPosition Description

 

Department:  Communications FLSA:  Non-Exempt

Reports To: Communications Supervisor   Grade:  11



 

POSITION SUMMARY

 

The System Status Controller dispatches 911 calls; dispatches units for response to ALCS, BLS and 911 calls; clears the beginning of shifts in the respective areas; schedules field unit crews for meal breaks; removes crews and units from service.

 

 

 

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

 The Systems Status Controller is extremely busy because of call volume.  The Systems Status Controller deals with life and death situations.  The System Status Controller is concerned about not enough units on the road

 

Employee Performance

 Receive incoming emergency and non-emergency calls

 Promptly ascertain proper levels of response

 Allocate resources match dynamic system demands

 Dispatch and maintain radio communication with units

 Monitor and document response times of units

 

Operational

 Investigate and report all time exceptions

 Answer requests and dispatch medical support personnel

 Complete and submit daily status reports, including, response time exceptions, response time compliance, exception percentages

 Monitor system performance and communicates system demands to field personnel while recognizing the needs, capabilities, and limitation of field personnel

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

 Knowledge of the geographical area

 Ability to type twenty-five words per minute

 Ability to employ discretion and confidentiality in sensitive areas

 Ability to read, interpret, and follow instructions on memos, letters, and various documents

 High School Diploma

 

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:

 Knowledge of Microsoft Word

 Knowledge of CAD procedures and techniques

 Emergency Medical Technician Certification

 Previous Radio Communication experience

 

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:

 

Occasionally:  Walking-inside, reaching/handling, carrying less-than 25lbs., stooping
