Medical/Legal/Managed Care Clerical Position

Position reports to the Department Director 

 Scope: 

 

Provide attorneys with necessary assistance (to get claims paid) and Assist with Managed Care issues.

 

Responsibilities:

 Assist attorneys with patient ledgers, balancesReceive and process film duplication requestsBill attorneys for any films or medical records providedReceive payment for duplication and forward for depositUpdate attorney information in Medstar as neededCoordinate with collection department on LOP accountsReceive and process SubpoenasCopy, fax and mail subpoenaed materialsReceive requests for Expert Witness ServicesInvoice attorneys for the services requestedArrange depositions and court appearances for doctors.Coordinate arrangements for consultsResearch accounts and answer billing questions from attorneysNegotiate settlements with attorneysAssist with Managed Care issues Additional Responsibilities:

Educational Requirements/Experience:

1.  High School Diploma or (GED) 

2.  Extensive knowledge of all lines of insurance business, i.e. HMO, PPO, EPO and POS

3.  At least two years experience in Medical Billing
