Patient Services Representative

Position Summary:

The Patient Services Representative (PSR) is primarily responsible for working with patients at the end of their visits to process patient financial information, collect payments on accounts, schedule follow-up appointments, and provide assistance requested by patients. The PSR is also cross-trained and utilized as a Patient Access Representative, thereby assuming the responsibilities associated with telephone access and scheduling.

 

The position is located in the Department of Ophthalmology at Northwestern Medical Faculty Foundation. The clinic is located adjacent to the Magnificent Mile and Michigan Avenue.

 

Personal Characteristics:

Exceptional interpersonal Communication and customer service skills

Ability to balance multiple priorities

Ability to utilize personal computers and select software applications

Basic knowledge of physician and insurance billing

 

 

Education:

Bachelor's degree preferred.

Previous experience in a customer service role and in a healthcare setting preferred.
