Referral Patient Service Specialist (District of Columbia)

The George Washington University Medical Faculty Associates (MFA) is searching for a Referral Patient Service Specialist to work in the Department of Medicine.

The incumbent will greet and direct patients for appointments, tests, and referrals; schedule patient appointments and procedures using a computerized scheduling system; handle physician referrals; provide patient instructions verbally or in writing in order for patient to prepare for appointment; obtain and document patient demographic, financial and insurance information; perform pre-registration activities and determines medical insurance coverage; identify patients with delinquent accounts; confirm appointments; and register patients into a computerized system; counsel patients on unpaid balances; collect patient payments; work with physicians and nursing staff to facilitate the patient encounter.

Required Skills:
Qualifications:
High School graduate or equivalent required. Two years of front desk/medical
receptionist experience in a patient care environment. patient scheduling specifically in IDX. Must be proficient with medical insurance, referrals, and patient scheduling. Experience utilizing a computerized patient scheduling system and knowledge of medical terminology required. IDX patient scheduling experience and typing skills of 30 WPM or more preferred.
