Reimbursement Analyst I
Summary: Provides support to department and analysts responsible for identifying Medicare allowable reimbursements. Includes supporting various provider categories requiring manual pricing functions on a day to day basis for adjudicating Medicare + Advantage claims.
Duties and Responsibilities:
1. Manually price claims with the appropriate pricer, querying, or utilizing different resource materials as well as reviewing for different edits.
2. Requires a complete understanding of developed pricing models, fee schedules, and coding requirements to pay providers Medicare allowable or equivalents thereof. Requires the ability to research appropriate resources including Federal Registers, Program Memorandums, and Transmittals issued by CMS to respond to various types of claims submitted.
3. Keeping the department informed on a daily basis of information released from CMS or the GPO websites.
4. Update certain pricers on a quarterly basis or once a year.
5. Report on a monthly basis how many Call Trackings are responded to and how long it takes to respond to inquiries.
6. Responsible for tracking, organizing and distributing all pertinent Program Memorandums issued to department personnel and others as requested.
7. Responsible for tracking and updating all necessary Medicare program manual revisions issued.
8. Other related duties as assigned.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
* Extremely detail oriented, meticulous
* Ability to follow both written and verbal instructions
* Strong organizational skills
* Ability to work well under various stressful and time sensitive situations
* Utilize the internet in conjunction with Excel and Access applications to retrieve, compile and utilize various data sources
* Proficient use of semi-complex functions in Microsoft Excel to include but not limited to vector lookups, concatenates, drop down menus, rounding, logic statements utilizing ?IF?, ?AND?, and ?OR? functions, and creating multiple ?IF? statements within one logic sequence.
* Ability to gather bits of information from various parts of a document and put it together to an organized and logical manner to arrive at a solution.
* Excellent verbal and written communication skills to include formal document preparation
Education and Experience:
* High School Diploma or equivalent
* One year related experience
Desired:
* Experience in, or understanding of, health care industry, Medicare and/or provider reimbursements and billing practices.
* Two or more years of college.
Essential Functions:
* Manual dexterity in hands to do extensive keyboarding
* Requires the ability to sit for extended periods of time
* Eyesight required for the ability to view print on a computer screen and/or paper document
* Requires the ability to speak and hear to exchange information with customers by telephone
