Generous Paid-Time-Off PolicyJob Description:The Senior Healthcare Consultant position will be responsible for coordinating the activities of medical audits, coding education, chargemaster (CDM) reviews, and compliance services for clients in Michigan and Ohio. In addition, this individual will work on development of products to aid hospital and medical group clients in minimizing the time to code patient charts, fully appreciate the reimbursement afforded them under regulation, and efficiently implement strategies to maintain compliance with federal, state and local standards. It is estimated that direct client duties will represent 75% of this individual's time, and 25% will be associated with planning, development and other functions.A significant tool made available to healthcare clients of Plante & Moran is an on-line CDM management service. Accessed through an Application Service Provider (ASP) internet connection and in partnership with a major software vendor, clients receive real-time notification of regulatory changes relevant to their CDM and associated hard-coded CPT, HCPC, and Revenue Codes. In order to make improved decisions on managing their CDM, P&M provides periodic reviews of the client CDM, and daily access to P&M coding consultants for a fixed monthly fee. The Senior Healthcare Consultant will be responsible for management of this product.Other services to be coordinated by the Senior Healthcare Consultant are:
Supervising Independent Review organization services to clients under a Corporate Integrity Agreement
Medical Chart Audits
Physician and Staff education
DRG and APC reviews
Participation in Hospital and Medical Group revenue cycle assessments and process improvement engagements
Participation in Third-party Administrator medical claims review engagementsJob Requirements:
Bachelors of Science Degree in Health Informatics or Health Information Management
Minimum 7 years of experience working in a hospital coding environment
AHIMA Certified as Registered Health Information Administrator (RHIA) and Certified Coding Specialist (CCS)Ideal Characteristics and Background:
Strong written and verbal communication skills
Self confident and at ease in presenting to groups of 20 - 30 people, and in communicating to Senior Management of hospitals (CEO, COO, and CFO's)
Licensed Practical Nurse or Registered Nurse
