Senior Graphics Designer (134560-563)

Description This position is expected to possess an aptitude for production/design, an awareness of the Company?s production/design capabilities, an understanding of industry standards and practices related to graphic arts, and the ability to work with clients to coordinate project flow and deadlines.
This position will create and produce top-quality creative products through design, art, photography and graphic elements for a wide variety of related projects for Premier. This position will work in a variety of mediums including print, web, and other formats. This position will provide life cycle support from needs analysis of business units to prepress production services.



Major Accountabilities

Meets with clients to determine appropriate design solutions for requested projects.

Works with Creative Services Director and other department members to strengthen working relationships with customers

Produces original design work (for print and Internet) in a variety of formats.

Maintains corporate identity standards and recommends changes as necessary.

Assists Creative Services Director in supervising the work of external creative resources and vendors; ensures project specifications are clear, and deadlines are met.

Travels when necessary to proof projects, monitor project progress, and meets production deadlines.

Reviews layouts, bluelines, and color proofs; attends press checks as needed.

Handles final file preparation, including pre-flighting and quality checks; delivers files to printer.

Understands costs associated with graphic design production processes.

Develops print specifications and requests quotations.

Ensures compliance with postal regulations.

Archives files and works with CITS to maintain department file server.




 Required Skills


A Bachelor's degree (BA, BS) required in Graphic Design, commercial art of related discipline.

5-7 years experience in an agency or corporate environment (communications or marketing) with proven track record and creative and diverse portfolio.



Knowledge & Skills

Must have the ability to develop, communicate, and execute design concepts in a timely, cost effective manner that meets client needs.



Technical skills needed include:

Proficiency with current based design software.

Knowledge of pre-press print preparation.

Experience with Internet design criteria; knowledge of electronic image creation/generation in multiple formats.

Digital photographic proficiency. Some knowledge of studio lighting techniques preferred.

Understand how the creative process functions within the larger corporate environment.

Must be fluent in use of Macintosh computer and Quark Xpress, Photoshop, Illustrator and InDesign software programs.

Maintain a solution-focused, professional demeanor in stressful, multiple-deadline situations.

Must have thorough knowledge of graphics production processes. Must have demonstrated skill in digital photography.
