Surgical Tech

Opportunities are available in Neurosurgery and General Surgery. ResponsibilitiesThe Surgical Technologist (ST) is responsible for facilitating the surgical procedure through the assembly of instrumentation, equipment and supplies. The Surgical Technologist works as a member of the surgical team under the supervision of a registered nurse, with the surgeon, anesthesiologist, and other medical support personnel to provide patient care in a manner consistent with the mission, vision and values of the Surgical Services department and Swedish Medical Center. QualificationsTo perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily.  The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill and/or ability required.  Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions.

Education: High School diploma or GED. Certificate of completion of a surgical technician vocational program or documentation of equivalent training.

Licensure/Certification: Registration with the Washington State Department of Health as a Surgical Technologist required. National certification by the Liaison Council on Certification for ST is preferred.  CPR Provider certification is required.

Experience:
Six months experience in a hospital operating room preferred.

Equipment/Skills: Ability to develop and maintain good relationships with physicians and staff members.  Strong customer relations and interpersonal skills. Ability to add, subtract, multiply and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, fractions, and decimals. Interpret ratios and percentages. Interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instruction, and procedure manuals. Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral diagram or schedule form. Strong verbal communication skills and a demonstrated ability to listen to others and understand the message.
