Our Respiratory Care Department is one of the largest in the country, remaining at the forefront of new ideas and technologies. Therapists have the opportunity to perform various specialties; including patient rehabilitation, emergency care, neonatal/pediatric/adult care, flight medicine, clinical instruction, chronic ventilation and pulmonary function lab.
The Neonatal/Pediatric Respiratory Therapist is responsible for assessing, planning, implementing, and evaluating the treatment, care, and needs of an assigned group of patients. Specific age groups are identified in the principal duties and job responsibilities section. In addition, he/she must be able to accept leadership responsibility in the Intensive Care Nursery or Pediatric areas in the absence of the Lead Therapist, as directed by the respiratory care shift Supervisor. Actively participates in outstanding customer service and accepts responsibility in maintaining relationships that are equally respectful to all.
Experience is preferred, but we are willing to train qualified candidates with an interest in Neonatal/Pediatric Respiratory care.
KNOWLEDGE AND SKILLS REQUIRED:Blood Gas acquisition Analysis and Quality Control, Adult & Pediatric Experience, Airway Management, Basic Spirometry, CPR, Equipment Calibration, Chest Physiotherapy, Aerosol Therapy, IPPB Therapy, Incentive Spirometry, MDI Treatment, Oral, Nasal and Tracheal Suctioning, Routine Respiratory Modalities, Sputum Inductions, Ventilator, Ocillator, Utilize and Adapt to State of the Art Technology, Computer Systems and Computer Applications, Effective Oral and Written Communication.
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE REQUIRED:
Graduate of a respiratory or cardiopulmonary science program.
Must satisfactorily complete an advanced Level Training Program for Neonatal/Pediatric Practitioners, or possess at least 3 consecutive years of experience in both neonatal and pediatric critical care and successfully complete a department proficiency exam.
