Gardener II- Nemours Mansion -Full Time

Nemours owns and operates the Alfred I. duPont Hospital for Children in Wilmington, DE, as well as four major Children's specialty centers in Wilmington, Jacksonville, Orlando, and Pensacola.

The Alfred I. duPont Hospital for Children, with a long-established and excellent reputation in pediatric health care, draws a broadly diverse patient population. The hospital, supported in part through an endowment from the Nemours Foundation, continues to grow both regionally and nationally and is the tertiary care center for pediatrics within the Jefferson Health System.

The Nemours Mansion, located on the Nemours Estate, is seeking the right candidate for a Gardener II position. The schedule for this position will be a 40 hour work week. PRIMARY FUNCTION

 

Maintain and improve the gardens by performing all pertinent maintenance practices

 

 

ESSENTIAL RESPONSIBILITIES

 Operate all landscape equipment and vehicles including large trucks, tractors, skid loader and backhoe.Bedding area preparations, i.e. roto-tilling etc.Weed and clean bedding areasWater as neededMulchChemical applications as required.Planting seasonal flowersPlanting woody plant materialsTransplant woody plant materialsMowingHedge ShearingPruning evergreen and deciduous shrubs and flowering trees, shaping and dead woodingSnow and ice controlWork on special projectsParticipate in planning Responsible for participating in departmental and Foundation programs for quality assessment and improvement.Work with department management to improve services provided.





 

 POSITION QUALIFICATIONS I. Education, Training and Experience

 High school or equivalent preferredMinimum of seven years experience maintaining formal gardensFormal garden maintenance training

 

 II. Licenses, Registrations or Certifications

 

1.Valid drivers license

2. Pesticide Applicators License / Preferred not Required.
