High Sierra Area Operator Food and Beverage and Lodging Operations

POSITION TITLE: AREA OPERATOR ? HIGH SIERRA F&B and LODGING OPERATIONS

 

DIVISION: GUEST RECREATION

 

REPORTS TO:  MANAGER OF GUEST RECREATION

 

POSITION SUMMARY:  Directly responsible for the wide variety of Company programs in the Guest Recreation Division, specifically: managing all daily operations of the High Sierra Camps, Tuolumne Lodge, White Wolf Lodge, and the Tuolumne Grill - Providing proper guest service, profitability, and compliance with NPS and Company regulations, policies and procedures.

 

 

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

1. Recruits, hires and trains seasonal managers and staff in cooperation with Human Resources.

2. Coordinates information flow between the High Sierra Camps, Tuolumne Meadows Lodge, White Wolf Lodge, Tuolumne Grill, and other Company departments.

3. Controls labor and cost of sales by implementing timely changes in operating plans as needed to respond to financial results and forecasts.

4. Assumes responsibility to ensure proper guest service is provided including meeting with guests on a daily basis and responding to their needs.

5. Responds to emergency situations.

6. Assures all Company procedures, control systems, safety and sanitation standards, disciplinary action, and other established plans are understood and implemented.

7. Plans and supervises opening and closing of operations.

8. Supports and ensures compliance with the Company?s environmental initiatives.

9. Develop programs to maximize guest recreation profitability for the Company.

10. Coordinate area operations with the National Park Service, hosting as many as 4, 000 visitors on peak days.

11. Plan, coordinate and supervise all special events and programs.

12. Control Company assets and revenues up to $100,000 on peak days.

13. Achieve financial goals, cost of sales and profit plans.

14. Responsible for daily accounting, reporting, cash procedures and operations.

15. Ensure compliance with Union Collective Bargaining Agreements, Company Policies, the Yosemite Experience Employee Handbook, and safety objectives.

16. Insure that staff evaluations are completed on time and used effectively to enhance employee performance.

17. Assists Company management with all long term planning of High Sierra Operations.

18. Coordinate capital and operating budgets and monitor unit monthly profit and loss statements.

19. Prepare annual operational budget, capital budget and comparability study.

20. Communicate Company philosophy/credo in actions and words and set standards for staff.

21. Other assignments as directed by management.

EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE AND SKILLS REQUIRED:

1. Degree in related field preferred.

2. Must have five (5) years of supervisory experience, including at least three (3) years in the ski industry.

3. Must have strong interpersonal skills, with proven skills in team building and customer service.

4. Must possess sufficient experience and technical expertise in all functions of guest service, food and beverage, front office and housekeeping of a seasonal and remote resort lodge.

5. Must have knowledge of food and wine service and preparation in a manner consistent with remote resort lodge operations.

6. Prefer current PSIA Level 3 Alpine or Snowboard Certification.

7. Excellent verbal and written communications skills required.

8. Must be able to read, punctuate and proof complex reports, write memos and perform basic accounting functions.

9. Requires the ability to read, write, speak and understand English well.

10. High level concentration and attention to detail required, as well as the ability to work independently, prioritize work and make decisions regarding correct formatting of work.

11. Must have valid California driver?s license.

12. Must be able to lift, push and pull 50-175 pounds. Requires sitting, standing, walking, seeing, hearing, and speaking, frequently stoop, kneel, crouch, occasionally climb and balance on a ladder or step stool.
