Port Captain (Full Time/ Accompanied)

 

Responsibilities: Oversees the operation and maintenance of the US Army vessels assigned to USAKA. In charge of the training and safety programs for the department, maintains safety files and performs accident investigations, and ensures that onboard safety equipment is maintained on all vessels. Develops the standard ferry schedules for both Ebeye and Roi Namur islands, the weekly watercraft schedule, and approves the daily vessel and crew assignments. Reviews disciplinary issues and warning reports, and coordinates and reviews annual performance reviews. He/she conducts vessel inspections and provides SeeSOR evaluation data and inspections. Develops mission support plans and ensures that crews are briefed on missions and duties. Must be qualified as Pilot for the Port of Kwajalein and will direct and coordinate the movement and docking of visiting ships. He/she will oversee the port operations including stevedoring, line handling, and emergency response. He/she will be in charge of the Oil Spill response team ?CHARLIE?. He /she may be assigned to vessels as captain or mate as needed. Assigned Six Sigma Champion for operations and develops PIP?s for process improvement and process assignments. He/she reports directly to the Marine Manager for orders, guidance, training and other duties. Perform other duties as required. Work is performed at Kwajalein normally in an 8 hour day inport and at sea, on board the assigned vessels. Work may be in excess of 8 hours when needed.

 

Requirements: B.S. Maritime Academy required, desire M.S. Marine Transportation with minimum of 10 years of related experience. Must possess USCG Master 1600T Ocean license and Chief Mate Unlimited license; desire Master Unlimited Oceans with all applicable STCW endorsements for international waters.

You and authorized dependents, if any, traveling to Kwajalein are required to have a valid passport in your possession prior to departure.
