Assistant Benefits Supervisor

JOB SUMMARY:  Assist the Benefits Supervisor in performing all benefit related functions for Indianapolis Public Schools including new employee orientation and retirement programs.  Counsels and advises employees regarding retirement.


REQUIREMENTS: Advanced background/knowledge of employee benefits, insurance and insurance related issues/products.


EXPERIENCE:  Detailed working knowledge of COBRA, HIPAA, FMLA regulations/guidelines required. Must possess successful experience working in a diverse population of students and staff.

 

MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES:
? Become familiar with the IPS on-line human resources system, particularly as it pertains to benefits.
? Must be able to perform all appropriate benefit functions on the human resources system in the absence of the Benefits Supervisor.
? Work with the Benefits Supervisor in the development of benefit processes to be used in the introduction and implementation of a computer system and perform the implementation process.
? Know and understand all aspects of employee benefits including implementation, administration and various laws, regulations and guidelines pertaining to employee benefits, including, COBRA, HIPAA, FMLA, Section 125.
? Understand and interpret National Medical Child Support Orders and Medicare Secondary Payer Demand Letters.
? Proficient in the use of Word and Excel. Knowledge of Power Point helpful.
