POSITION OVERVIEW:?

Sara Lee is seeking a growth oriented Assistant HR Manager to support our 630 employee unionized manufacturing facility in Traverse City, MI. We will depend on you to work closely with and provide HR support to the plant management team to develop, implement and assist in management of all human resource activities to build on our reputation of excellence.

SPECIFIC POSITION ACCOUNTABILITIES:
?As an integral member of our team you will work closely with local Union leadership in the resolution of issues prior to grievance process and provide guidance to employees, frontline supervision and senior management on contract policy and interpretation.??Assistant HR manager will also play an active role in gathering and formatting information before and after contract negotiations and manage the post negotiations process in preparation for? new labor agreement.??Selected candidate will work closely with Sara Lee HR personnel to review and resolve issues for employees pertaining to benefits, in addition to managing benefit program for both salaried exempt, non-exempt, and hourly union employees.??Utilize your prior experience in recruitment to supervise and support plant staffing needs with respect to employee screening, selection, and new hire orientation and training. Interact with employment representatives in an effort to design recruitment strategies associated with facilities seasonal hiring requirements. ?Facilitate employee training on benefits, EEO/AAP, harassment prevention and other applicable company policies and procedures as required. Actively participate in preparation and maintenance of facilities Affirmative Action Plan.?Promote positive employee relations and provide guidance to all employees on an on-going basis with respect to Collective Bargaining Agreement, discipline, attendance and policies and procedures.

To qualify, we require a minimum of a Bachelor's Degree and 3+ years of progressive experience in a HR Generalist and/or Management role. Demonstrated leadership skills and experience with labor and employee relations is strongly desired. Experience in manufacturing, benefit administration and knowledge of EEO/Affirmative Action is preferred.
