Compensation Professional

The successful contributor will conduct programs of compensation and job analysis for employer. May specialize in specific areas, such as position classification and pension programs.

 

The essential functions of the position include but are not limited to:

 Ensuring company compliance with federal and state laws related to compensation programs, including reporting requirements.Advising managers and employees on state and federal wage and hour regulations, collective agreements, benefit and compensation policies, personnel procedures and job classification programs.Preparing occupational classifications, job descriptions and salary scales.Assisting in preparing and maintaining personnel records and handbooks.Preparing reports, such as organization and flow charts, and career path reports, to summarize job analysis and evaluation and compensation analysis information.Assessing the need for and develop job analysis instruments and materials.Researching job and worker requirements, structural and functional relationships among jobs and occupations, and occupational trends.Planning and developing curricula and materials related to compensation and benefit programs and conducting training.Observing, interviewing, and surveying employees and conduct focus group meetings to collect job, organizational, and occupational information.Evaluating job positions, determining classification, exempt or non-exempt status, and salary.Analyzing organizational, occupational, and industrial data to facilitate organizational functions and providing technical information to business, industry, and government.Planning, developing, evaluating, improving, and communicating methods and techniques for promoting, compensating, evaluating, and training staff.Providing advice on the resolution of classification and salary complaints.Performing multifactor data and cost analyses.May research employee benefit programs and recommend changes or modifications.May administer employee insurance, pension and savings plans, working with insurance brokers and plan carriers.

 

Bachelor's Degree (four year college or university) and/or three to seven years related experience. The successful candidate should posssess the following skills and abilities:Ability to perform work accurately and thoroughly. Possessing the trait of being organized or following a systematic method of performing a task.Ability to act calmly under stress and strain, and of not being hasty or impetuous.Ability to effectively present information publicly. Ability to be internally inspired to perform a task to the best of ones ability using his or her own drive or initiative.Ability to show consideration for and maintain good relations with others.Ability to convince a group of people to work toward a goal.Ability to utilize the available time to organize and complete work within given deadlines.Ability to grasp and understand business concepts and issues.Ability to communicate in writing clearly and concisely.Ability to look beyond the standard solutions.Ability to find a solution for or to deal proactively with work-related problems.Ability to comprehend complex technical topics and specialized information.Ability to adapt to change in the workplace.Ability to use thinking and reasoning to solve a problem.Ability to take care of the customers? needs while following company procedures.Ability to make critical decisions while following company procedures.Ability to work effectively with people regardless of their age, gender, race, ethnicity, religion, or job type.

 

PC/Technology Skills: The candidate must have a basic proficiency in word processing, spreadsheets, database, Internet and presentation software (specifically MS Office software)

 

Must possess the ability to communicate with all levels of staff including management and senior-level management.
