Director, Global Staffing and Orientation

The International AIDS Vaccine Initiative (IAVI) (www.iavi.org) is a nonprofit scientific and charitable organization founded in 1996 whose mission is to ensure the development of safe, effective, accessible, preventive AIDS vaccines for use throughout the world. IAVI?s work focuses on three areas: accelerating scientific progress; mobilizing public support through issue advocacy and education; and encouraging industrial involvement in AIDS vaccine development.

 

We are seeking a Director, Global Staffing and Orientation for our New York City location.

 

Key Responsibilities:

?  Leads and manages IAVI?s global recruiting strategies and processes.

?  Provides hands on leadership in the development and administration of the recruitment and selection procedures

?  Manages employee relations functions

?  Travel to field as necessary for optimal recruitment strategies

?  Prepares recruiting budget incorporating best practices and creative techniques

?  Prepares and presents required and special reports

?  Designs and leads best in class onboarding and orientation efforts/programs for critical early stage employment period

?  Provides coaching and mentoring opportunities for subordinate staff within HR.

?  Developing and recommending staffing program goals and objectives, policies, and procedures, and courses of action.

Experience and Skills:

?  Must possess considerable knowledge of management: the principles, practices, and procedures of HR Management ? specialty areas of staffing and onboarding.

?  Must be able to research information and analyze data (hard and soft) to arrive at valid conclusions, recommendations, and plans of action.

?  Must be able to prepare comprehensive reports and represent ideas clearly and concisely, both orally and in writing.

?  Must have the ability to plan, coordinate, and direct the work of subordinate staff engaged in various professional, technical, and administrative functions.

?  Must have the ability to exercise superior judgment and discretion in establishing and maintaining good working relationships.

?  Must have strong organizational capabilities and ability to work within a fast-paced, multi-cultural environment

Education and work Experience:

?  Undergraduate degree, preferably with concentration in HR Management

?  Global experience strongly preferred (i.e. worked and lived abroad)

?  Minimum 7 yrs exp. in HR Management, 3 yrs of which must have been in a responsible leadership position

?  SHRM Certified Professional (PHR) or Senior Professional (SPHR) desirable
