Director, Human Resources - Hawaii
JOB SUMMARY: Act as a strategic business partner to oversee the effective delivery of HR programs for a region, by proactively maximizing the contributions of HR. This includes the areas of employee relations, performance management and appraisal, recruitment, career counseling, training and development. A commitment to supporting the corporate values, missions, workforce diversity, and HR administration, by building partnerships with the sales and operations teams based out of multiple district offices.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: Include percentage of time spent on each duty/responsibility and categorize from highest to lowest percentage. This is not inclusive of all duties, just the essential functions of the position. Other duties may be assigned.
Serves as the primary counsel to Managing Director, Sales on all HR related matters and sets the overall people strategy for the region.
Function as a member of the regional management team to promote and ensure all HR programs are implemented effectively and within company guidelines.
Manage the recruiting function and process and supervises one or more professional recruiters. Work with regional management to define staffing plans. Work with recruiting staff to develop strategy for recruiting talented employees.
Monitor the employee experience throughout the region. Identify employee relation's issues and opportunities and recommend ideas and actions to Regional Vice President and HR Vice President.
Work with sales management in reviewing progressive discipline and development issues.
Counsel regional management and employees on all HR matters.
Review all terminations within the region to ensure adherence to company policy and/or legal compliance. Liaison with corporate HR management on protected group and sensitive issues.
Investigate sexual harassment allegations, discrimination charges, disputes and other "in house", sensitive issues and discusses with corporate HR management and/or Legal Department.
Develop and deliver training of Human Resources-related subject matter to field operations staff on an as needed basis. Identify training programs which will help to continually improve productivity of the sales group and other departments throughout the region. Work with corporate HR management to develop leadership and other training as required.
Ensure regional compliance with proper reporting and administration of unemployment claims.
Serves as project leader for various enterprise wide HR initiatives.
Act as regional resource for special projects and Human Resources programs, such as benefits enrollment, drug testing, background checks, performance appraisals, merit increases, and training and development.
Represent the company at government or judicial hearings (EOC, Department of Labor, State Office of Employment, Department of Fair Labor and Housing, Civil and Criminal Courts).
Maintain current knowledge and understanding of regulations, industry trends, current practices, new developments, and applicable laws regarding human resources.
Work with management to guarantee a safe and secure working environment and maintain compliance with (OSHA)/(CALOSHA) standards.

Demonstrated success creating and implementing effective staffing, development, reward, retention, training and employee relations programs; strong business acumen; big picture analytical skills; must enjoy the challenge of creating solutions and structure where speed is critical and limited infrastructure exists; team player and leadership abilities. Must be able to multi-task, deal with and embrace ambiguity, recognize trends and identify systemic approaches to solving problems in this dynamic environment.
Minimum 8 to 10 years broad based Human Resources experience, 5 of which must be at the management level.
Demonstrated capability to interface and maintain effective relationships with all departments and employees in a dynamic, team-oriented environment.
Expert knowledge of Human Resources laws such as EEOC guidelines, FLSA, and ADA are required.
Superior strategic planning, influence and negotiation skills.

BA/BS degree in Business or related field (concentration in Human Resources preferred)
