Director, Knowledge Management

As the Director, Knowledge Management, this person will lead the knowledge management function to additional, scalable growth and measurable achievement. The Director, Knowledge Management will work in our headquarters, located in Watertown, Massachusetts. (S)he will report to the VP, People and Process.

Responsibilities may include, but are not limited to:


Build a scalable training and knowledge management strategy

Act as chief evangelist for knowledge management throughout the organization

Lead the effort to establish and maintain a scalable teaching and learning infrastructure (learning management system, standards, p & ps) using a blended learning approach

Lead the certification program that delivers: job and work process analysis to managers and job specific training (current job, as well as advancement opportunities) to employees

Deliver a common framework for athenistas and clients to learn and use athenaNet services through documentation of athenaNet changes, as well as advocacy for and training on those changes

Recruit, develop and retain the Knowledge Management team.


Required of All Employees of the Department of People and Process:

Solid computer skills

Writing and Verbal skills

Analytic and/or research skills (will vary depending upon the specifics of the role)

Bachelor?s degree, Associate?s degree or equivalent experience (will vary depending upon the specifics of the role)

Mastery of all Microsoft Office applications, including Outlook, Word, Excel and Powerpoint, as well as proficiency with Visio


For all Director level staff (which includes the Director, Knowledge Management) at athenahealth:
In addition to meeting the minimum criteria (outlined above) for any athenahealth employee, all Director level staff (including the Director, Knowledge Management) must be able to work independently with little oversight/input from a supervisor to execute projects and make management decisions that have a broad overall impact on the company. Thus, (s)he must possess the following additional skills/experiences/attributes:


Strong management and leadership abilities

Strong computer, analytic and research skills (will vary depending upon the specifics of the role)

Strong written and verbal skills

Demonstrated ability to develop, manage and adapt workflows, P & Ps and other relevant pieces of intellectual capital

Demonstrated ability to manage major, more complex and longer-term projects and initiatives that may require cross functional collaboration

Ability to develop and manage to an Operating Plan and budget (will vary depending upon the specifics of the role)

Ability to manage staff, including writing reviews and making other personnel decisions (will vary depending upon the specifics of the role)

Bachelor?s degree, Master?s degree or equivalent experience (will vary depending upon the specifics of the role)

Skills

In addition, the successful candidate will constantly broaden/deepen his/her understanding of best practices in knowledge management and training, as well as his/her understanding of athena, our business and the business of healthcare.

Lead ? Lead the creation of a team that is known internally and (eventually) externally for its training and knowledge management functions; its ability to teach and learn.
