Director of Learning & Program Development

PetSmart headquarters (Store Support Group) in Phoenix, Arizona currently has an opening for Director of Learning and Program Development. The Director of Learning and Program Development provides strategic vision and leadership for a team who is responsible for developing all training curriculum and policies & procedures for the PetSmart Services and store operations businesses, which include PetSmart stores, PETsHOTEL, Doggie Day Camp, Grooming, Pet Training and Adoptions, as well as Pet Care and Pet Safety. Specifically provides strategic and operational direction for PetSmart?s field and store training activities that includes hourly and management associates. Leads the creation and implementation of key metrics that assess the effectiveness of training initiatives. Assesses training needs in order to ensure that all critical content areas are addressed adequately. Ensures that training contributes to a high quality customer offering, while concurrently maintaining the safety and well being of our associates and the pets in our care.  Participates in strategic planning and business development activities to ensure that training is linked, and maximally contributes to, business goals and objectives. Responsible for managing the program development budget. Strategically evaluates training programs and processes for overall effectiveness. This position requires approximately 10%-20% travel time. Directly supervises three to four associates with indirect supervision of an additional ten associates.

Bachelor?s degree from an accredited four-year college or university and 7-10 years? related experience in education or corporate training, preferably in a service or retail business; equivalent combination of education and experience acceptable.  A Master?s degree is preferred.
