Diversity Program Manager

Summary of Responsibilities

 

This position reports directly to the head of Diversity. The incumbent will provide effective consultation in the areas of diversity & inclusion & should take responsibility for benchmarking & developing implementation strategies to improve performance as it relates to diversity.

 

Principal Responsibilities

 

1. Identifying systematic changes that advance diversity results.

2. Develop/implement vision, strategy, objectives and metrics.

3. Benchmark external diversity programs & initiatives & recommend/implement diversity best practices.

4. Champions organizational change efforts that result in improved career planning & development for women & People of Color throughout the company.

 

Additionally, responsibilities include:

 

Assist with the creation of recruiting and development programs across all LOBs.- Assist in developing MetLife-s diversity strategy & associated action planning, ensuring a compelling business case for diversity as a key business driver.

- Conduct external benchmarking to identify trends & efforts to be considered at MetLife

- Identify opportunities to introduce new initiatives & tools at MetLife to advance diversity

- Establish, monitor and communicate progress in achievement of diversity goals

- Lead completion and submission of applications/surveys to external organizations & publications to secure external recognition for MetLife-s diversity programs.

- Leverage relationships with key diverse professional/community-based organizations & work closely with MetLife Foundation & Supplier Diversity function.

- Interface with related departments and functional areas (including Strategic Staffing, Employee Relations and Human Resources Business Leaders) to drive and implement diversity initiatives throughout the organization

 

Required Competencies

 

-MUST HAVE AT LEAST ONE YEAR OF GLOBAL DIVERSITY EXPERIENCE

- Strategic thinking and organizational capabilities, particularly with regard to diversity issues.

- Strong influencing skills and capability to collaborate with other strategic leaders.

- Strong interpersonal, teamwork, advocacy, planning, problem solving, analytical and presentation skills.

- Knowledge of federal, state and local EEO regulations.

- Strong project management skills and ability to act independently and responsibly in a fast-moving environment.

- Ability to effectively develop and articulate, the business case based on competitive data

- Effective communication skills (written, interpersonal, platform)

- Constructive collaboration and consensus building skills required to work with the Lines of Business

- Ability to work independently while simultaneously being a team player

- Strong relationship and influencing role with all levels of management

- Advanced degree or 5-7 years relevant work experience in HR or diversity preferred

- Employee relations experience preferred.

- Experienced in leading change within a complex environment.

- Strong team, and consensus-building abilities.

- Previous manager experience preferred.

- Proven leadership, problem-solving, and decision-making skills are essential.

- PC skills are required
