Employee Relations Manager

Responsibilities:

Serve as a point of contact for employee relation issues for designated field locations in Northern California; ensure practices are consistent across client groups

Apply advanced knowledge of Employee Relations (ER) issues to advise client managers, supervisors and employees in all aspects of ER

Provide for day-to-day employee relations, maintaining positive relationships, fostering open communication of business information and policies

Respond and manage urgent situations involving appropriate levels of the client organization as necessary

Provide subject matter expertise regarding employment law and investigate issues such as performance management, disciplinary actions, complaints, work related conflicts etc.

Represent Blue Shield of California at unemployment hearings

Support team members in the handling of reductions in force events; support may include onsite delivery of benefit meetings to affected employees

Participate in New Hire Orientation presentations, as well as conduct exit interviews

Maintain a strict standard of confidentiality in handling Company sensitive information, reports and correspondence

Assist in the execution of compensation processes including merit increases, compensation adjustments and new benefit programs

Requirements:

8 - 10 years of Human Resources employee relations/generalist experience with emphasis in employee relations

Current knowledge of all applicable federal and state employment laws and regulations

Ability to develop and maintain collaborative and effective working relationships with management and all levels of staff

Strong facilitation and presentation skills

Demonstrated knowledge of PCs and software such as PeopleSoft, Excel, Word and Power Point

Prior healthcare experience preferred

Bachelor's degree and seven years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.

Thorough knowledge of HR related programs, policies, benefits, and services; strong knowledge of regulatory requirements related to employment, payment of wages, hours worked, etc.

Ability to maintain a high level of confidentiality when dealing with highly sensitive issues or information.

Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of managers, clients, customers, and the general public.

Strong leadership skills; strong interpersonal relation and conflict resolution skills. Effective oral and written communications skills.
