Employment Specialist II(190)

Were looking for an Employment Specialist who has HR Generalist experience that can contribute to our evangelical Christian organization. Our core values are integrity, stewardship, dignity and excellence centered around Christ and His church.

Your HR Generalist background is an important asset on our HR team. You will join our employment team to help us recruit and place the right person in the right position! In addition to 5-8 years of recruiting and employment experience we want someone who has experience in employee relations, training, compensation and benefits.


Other qualifications include flexibility, open to change within a rapidly growing ministry, and a team player who can work in a business partner model.

Job Summary

Recruits, screens, and plans exempt candidates to job openings. Also hires non-exempt staff when needed. Manages the Friday Volunteer program. Must be able to work with HRIS system, coordinate pay and pay changes, use behavioral interviewing techniques, and be flexible while meeting deadlines.

Duties and Responsibilities



Has a personal relationship with Jesus Christ. Is a consistent witness for Jesus Christ, maintains a courteous, Christ-like attitude in dealing with people within and outside of Compassion, and faithfully upholds Compassions ministry in prayer.
Acts as an advocate for children - raising the awareness of the needs, neglect, nurture, and potential of children in poverty and challenging and enabling those within one's influence to greater involvement and effectiveness on behalf of children.
Recruits, screens, and places exempt candidates using Compassion's selection system. Works with hiring managers to market positions effectively and efficiently. May assist will filling non-exempt positions as necessary.

Maintains systems for tracking and follow-up of applicant information. Produces appropriate follow-up correspondence with applicants. Produces reports on staffing related statistics.

Recruits and manages the Friday Volunteer program.

May assist with processing payroll to include new hire pay, ensuring accuracy of salary change information by researching deviations then making changes according to our guidelines.

Conducts background screening and testing on applicants selected for open positions.

Involved in Visa process for international candidates.

Involved with relocation programs for both US and international candidates.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities Required


Four to eight years experience as a Human Resources Generalist. Recruiting experience required.
Professional demeanor and good judgment with a high degree of maturity to handle confidential information discreetly.
Excellent verbal communication and interpersonal skills for building relationships with all levels of in-house staff and interacting with applicants at every stage of process. Pleasant and positive attitude.
Highly productive and efficient individual. Able to handle multiple tasks and assignments.
Ability to use a marketing approach in recruiting candidates for Human Resources and the employment team.
Ability to understand software applications such as eRecruiting, Windows, etc. Familiarity with the internet helpful.
Business writing skills. Proven ability in drafting business correspondence.
Must be able to work cross culturally with international staff. Working Conditions
