Franchise Training Specialist

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
Delivers new Franchisee, Manager, Field Consultant and store staff training programs (store- and classroom-based) to ensure trainees develop competency in the skills and knowledge needed to maximize sales and customer service in a 7-Eleven store. Includes classes such as Franchise Operator Training (FOT), Career Path and Store Experience.
Uses the recommended training programs, and is responsible for following a lesson plan, insuring key learning points and exercises are covered, and verifying learning.
Initiates discussions with trainees regarding issues that may arise during training program (i.e., they do not understand a portion of training, communication issues, etc.) and works with trainee to resolve.
Documents all test scores and maintains written documentation on trainees' progress and other relevant documentation as to why the decision was made to certify or not certify a trainee and all steps taken in the process. The documentation is critical throughout the entire training process and must be maintained (potentially for legal purposes.) Maintains file copies at the training location and distributes completion records to Operations Training Specialist as directed.
Initiates discussion and provides feedback on trainees throughout the training program to Operations Training Specialist, Market Manager and, other personnel as appropriate to include Corporate Training personnel on progress of trainees, problems or issues that may arise. Has the authority to discontinue a trainee's participation in the training program. (Does not have authority to stop the franchising process, this is done by Market Manager.)
Works with Operations Training Specialist to evaluate the effectiveness of training, both during the training process and after the trainee is assigned to a store. For example, may identify a procedure taught in training program that is not working once trainee is assigned to a store. Will try to identify problem and communicate it to Operations Training Specialist for resolution with Corporate Training Department or other appropriate personnel.
Utilizes appropriate skills to deliver training. Practices good coaching skills.
Monitors training store to follow proper procedures taught in training programs (i.e., Retailer Initiative, 5 Fundamentals, etc.) Works with appropriate personnel to insure that these processes, procedures, etc. are modeled at the training site. Notifies Operations Training Specialist of issues and works to obtain resolution.
Develops local store-level job aids and handouts to support training program, as necessary.
Ensures all training programs and materials reflect local laws, policies and procedures, etc. May revise portion of training program due to local regulations/policies, however can not change context of topics in the program.
Works with Field Consultant to identify problems and analyze potential causes in trainee's store operations after assuming control of the store. Assists Field Consultant in providing appropriate coaching and resources.
Maintains, distributes and orders training materials for classes and ensures materials are available when needed.
Coordinates training schedules with the local Operations Training Specialist to ensure seamless process from recruitment through store assignments and management.
Performs other duties and responsibilities as requested by management.

QUALIFICATIONS/EXPERIENCE NEEDED:
High school diploma with a two-year degree strongly preferred. Store management (or other operations management) experience with 7-Eleven is required. This job also requires proven ability to be flexible and open to change and new ideas, a record of positive employee development, and previous training experience is preferred. This position requires excellent communication skills, both oral and written. Must be able to clearly communicate training program material and be able to interact with trainees. Job requires flexibility and ability to adapt to a variety of learning styles and trainee abilities and still result in most trainees achieving competency, regardless of the learning styles and abilities. Must be able to document each trainee's progress and any relevant information pertaining to certification/non-certification. Will also revise job aids, handouts for local regulations/procedures, etc.. Will use word processing skills and on occasion spreadsheet application on personal computer. Must have basic math skills (i.e., calculating supply needs, etc.) Requires the ability to operate cash register and all sales counter equipment (i.e., gasoline, lottery, money order equipment, etc.)
