The Business Partner will provide Human Resources support to groups within the Insurance Services Group in The Standard's organization. The HR Business partner will work with management team to ensure effective planning and implementation of key Human Resources initiatives (Recruitment, Training, Employee Development, Compensation, Benefits, and Organizational Development), and will facilitate resolution of employee relations issues. This individual will also lead or participate on cross-functional HR teams charged with developing strategy and direction for HR deliverables (job structure, organizational fitness, competencies, etc.)
Primary responsibilities for this position include:
- Consult with business unit management on organizational issues including compensation, performance management, policy interpretation, organizational changes, recruiting and training needs.
- Partner and consult with management to: diagnose organizational issues, develop recommendations to resolve problems and identify appropriate means of reducing risk and ensuring legal compliance.
- Consult and build strong relationships with business units to understand their unique staffing needs. Initiate and develop staffing strategies and plans. This may involve facilitating the recruitment process, strategizing on-going sourcing, developing short and long-term retention strategies, targeting advertising for recruiting, determining appropriate time to engage with outside staffing agencies, conducting interviews, negotiating terms of employment including partnering with Compensation on complex salary issues in order to hire competitively.
To succeed in this exciting role you will need:
- Ability to communicate effectively with all levels of employees and division management; express ideas clearly and persuasively in written, oral and presentation form.
- Excellent negotiation and effective mediation and conflict resolution skills. Analyze and apply technical and legal information to complex situations; assess and identify problems and develop appropriate solutions and recommendations, exhibiting sound judgment.
- Working knowledge of HR disciplines including behavior based interviewing, compensation methodologies, benefits programs, staffing strategies, and adult learning theories.
- Project Management experience required. Hands on experience in development and execution of a project plan
- Working knowledge of MS Office suite of applications, especially Power Point, Word and Excel.
- BA / BS Degree in business, human resources, or related field; MS preferred.
- Seven years of progressively responsible human resources experience (Bachelor's level), or five years of experience with at a Master's degree level.
- Experience working in an HR function with a strategic business partner model.
