SUMMARY
Administers recruiting function by placing ads, reviewing resumes, and pre-qualifying applicants. Must have knowledge of employee health, welfare and retirement plans company-wide. Benefit programs include: 401(k) Retirement Plan, medical/dental, income protection, short-term disability, long-term disability, workers? compensation, leave of absence, Flexible Spending (Section 125). Acts as liaison between employee and insurance providers to resolve benefit related problems and ensure effective utilization of plans and positive employee relations. Provides administrative support to human resources function as needed (e.g. correspondence generation, record keeping, file maintenance, HRIS entry). Ensures plans are administered in accordance with federal and state regulations and plan provisions are followed. Performs other HR generalist duties as assigned.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
? Responsible for the recruitment process for administration, warehouse, and drivers. Places ads or works with agencies as needed. Review resumes and pre-qualify candidates. Driver qualifications, following DOT regulations, will include conducting background checks, scheduling pre-employment drug screens, and building and maintaining employee files.
? Strives to ensure employees? understanding of benefit programs by regularly generating communication. Refers difficult or very complex complaints to manager as needed. Acts as liaison with various insurance carriers and fosters effective relationships with client representatives.
? Acts as a resource for Payroll/HR contacts to ensure their understanding and compliance with benefit and HR policies and regulations. Keeps management advised of potential problem areas and recommends/implements solutions as appropriate.
? Conducts new employee orientation to ensure employees gain an understanding of benefit plans and enrollment provisions. Counsels employees (and potential employees/applicants) on plan provisions so that individuals can make informed benefit decisions.
? Workers compensation administration will involve interaction with the insurance carrier and the employee with the goal of facilitating the employee?s return to work or evaluate their eligibility for light duty assignments.
? Develop departmental procedures and processes to streamline workflow and ensure efficiency of time management.
? Assists with annual open enrollment periods each year.
? Assists in development and implementation of HR policies and procedures.
? Will assist with special projects, company events and committees as they arise.
QUALIFICATIONS
BS/BA Degree
3 years of experience
Bachelor?s degree in business or human resources preferred. Must have computer skills and the ability to learn HRIS and AS400 systems. Must be proficient in Word and Excel. Strong interpersonal skills essential. Familiarity with COBRA, OSHA, Unemployment Laws, Worker?s Compensation, ERISA, FMLA and related state and federal regulations required.
