Human Resource Generalist

A challenging, growth potential opportunity with one of the premier organizations in the Inland Northwest has just become available.  Ambassadors Group Inc. and Ambassador Programs, Inc. (dba People to People Ambassador Programs) now has an exciting opportunity for an ambitious Human Resource professional.  Due to rapid growth demands, the organization is seeking the right candidate to fill the position of Human Resource Generalist.  People to People Ambassador Programs is an educational travel organization that embodies the mission set forth by the founder of People to People, President Dwight D. Eisenhower, to "promote peace through understanding" between individual citizens of the world.  Through People to People Ambassador Programs, delegates connect directly with the culture and heritage of a destination through interactive experiences and adventures.

 

The organization is headquartered in Spokane, Washington and is planning a brand new state of the art campus style facility that will be occupied in early 2007.  Ambassadors Group Inc is a publicly traded organization on the NASDAQ National Market (ticker symbol: EPAX). Basic Purpose:

 

The HR Generalist administers employment functions for the organization, including recruiting full time, part time and seasonal associates.  In addition the HR Generalist supports the HR Manager by providing training for the organization, performance management and support with associate relations.Organizational Relationship:

 

Under the general supervision of the Human Resource Manager, the HR Generalist responsibilities consist of recruiting; maintaining statistical information relating to employment, assisting with associate relations and conducting training within the organization. The position requires frequent contact with associates and managers in other departments and the general public, and little or no contact with delegates or visitors.Duties & Responsibilities:

 

A. Work with managers to forecast upcoming staff needs.  Responds to hiring needs of departments in the organization, whether they are a temporary need or a full-time position. 

 

B.  Develop, implement and manage seasonal work force, temporary associates and interns. Work with surrounding universities and colleges to recruit students who are eligible for work-study and internships.

 

C.  Responsible for the recruiting efforts by scheduling interviews, conducting interviews, administering assessment tests to candidates, providing correspondence/feedback to applicants, and conducting reference and background checks

 

D.  Maintain government programs such as Employment Security, L & I, FMLA, COBRA, ADA, OSHA, etc.

 

E. Administer and/or lead organization-wide training programs.

 

F. Advise and assist supervisors as necessary in coaching associates concerning work deficiencies, behavioral concerns and attendance issues.  Maintain appropriate documentation.  In partnership with managers, terminate associates as necessary.Position Specifications:

 

? College degree in Business, Human Resources or related field plus 2 years direct experience or equivalent combination of experience/education. 

? Must have strong organizational and interpersonal skills to plan and prioritize work and to advise and work effectively with others. 

? Excellent ability to exercise good judgment in associate relations issues and confidential matters. 

? Experience with Ceridian payroll system a plus.Environmental Factors:

 

Work is performed in a well-lighted office area with materials and equipment for essential job functions at hand.  Incumbent is seated most of the time.  Interruptions are common and frequent.
