Position Overview:

The Area HR Consultant assists the Director of HR and Regional Distribution Center (RDC) leaders with planning and executing all HR functions. AHRCs help direct the work of HR Representatives.  AHRC?s have the responsibility to support multiple RDC operations in the True Value organization with primary responsibilities as defined in the following categories:

Total Rewards System:

Consult with managers and leaders on compensation-related policies and issues, such as pay decisions. Communicate True Value compensation philosophy, objectives, and strategies. Link these to compensation policy and decisions. Consult with managers on any compensation matters.  Assist in manager?s interaction with associates about compensation.

Staffing/Recruiting:

Participate in activities that influence staffing. Consult with managers and facilitate internal staffing processes.

Learning and Development:

Consult with managers to align performance, competencies, and development programs with the businesses. Consult with managers to promote linkage of all development tools/training. Work closely with True Value University in ensuring mandatory firm-wide training initiatives are met. Work closely with managers to track training costs. Facilitate training courses.

Associate Relations/Engagement:

Communicate True Value policy on a variety of associate matters. Scope and manage interventions and engagement initiatives. Help managers address performance issues effectively. Coach managers in necessary skills and develops improvement plans. Assist with conflict resolution. Review survey feedback, engagement patterns and trends; make recommendations accordingly.

Business Partner:

Work with leaders to develop and implement any significant True Value goals, policies or initiatives. May participate in RDC leadership meetings and headquarters? HR leadership team meetings. Ask the right questions.

Liaison with RDC?s and World Headquarters (WHQ):

Operations:

Link other RDCs and WHQ to get and share perspective, help, resources, and ideas. Maintain and contribute to development of HR infrastructure (tools, HRIS, recruiting, pay, etc.).

Safety:

Liaison with Corporate Safety Manager in ensuring all safety requirements and training are met.

Qualifications:
College Degree and/or equivalent operations experience 5 years of managerial/HR experience PC Skills Required: Windows 2000, MS Word, Excel 40% travel Effective oral and written communication skills Excellent problem solving skills Strong attention to detail Strong organizational and analytical skills Ability to manage multiple tasks Creativity and latitude are required
