Human Resources Field Specialist

Description: SUMMARY: Plan and carry out policies relating to all phases of human resources activity including regional support in the recruiting process, employee relations, retention and turnover in a multi-state environment.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following.

* Consult and partner with hiring managers to determine hiring needs. Effectively manage that relationship to help reduce cost per hire, improve time to fill and develop a cost effective staffing strategy.

* Recruit and staff from internal and external sources both exempt and nonexempt positions in a multi-state environment. Assess candidate's abilities and expectations by conducting testing assessments and thorough interviews, then providing feedback to the hiring manager.

* Coordinate interview at all phases of the recruiting process and assist with reaching final resolution for all candidates. Manage the acceptance and turndowns of candidates and coordinate the formulation of offers.

* Provide regular updates on progress with hiring manager, addressing issues, managing the process, analyzing results and determining next steps in a timely manner.

* Track applicant flow and provide recruiting report metrics as requested (e.g. number of hires, open positions, time to fill, recruiting costs, etc).

* Consult with management to ensure company policies and procedures are being applied consistently and fairly and ensure adherence to federal, state and local employment laws. Support managers in identifying and resolving all employee performance, placement, transfer and termination issues.

* Assist Senior Manager, Human Resources in identifying, evaluating and resolving all employee relations and work related problems affecting productivity, morale and customer relations.

* Conduct employee related investigations and advise management on employee relations issues until resolved. Represent organization at personnel-related hearings and investigations.

* Consult with HR management and General Counsel as needed to ensure that policies comply with federal and state law.

* Actively partner with managers to enhance internal communication, teamwork and morale and to implement process change.

* Ability to travel 50% to 60% of the time and may include overnight stays.

Qualifications:
To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE:
Bachelor's degree (B.A.) or equivalent experience preferred; and a minimum of 5 + years' solid progressive career growth and working experience in Human Resources or equivalent combination of education and experience.

LANGUAGE SKILLS:
Ability to read, analyze and interpret general business policies, periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures or governmental regulations. Ability to write reports and business correspondence. Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of managers, clients, customers, employees and applicants.

MATHEMATICAL SKILLS:
Ability to work with mathematical concepts such as probability. Ability to apply concepts such as fractions, percentages, ratios and proportions to practical situations.

REASONABLE ABILITY:
Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists. Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in write, oral, diagram of schedule form.

OTHER SKILLS and ABILITIES:
Must have highly developed interpersonal skills including oral and written; be self-confident and able to take initiative; results oriented with a sense of urgency and superior organizational skills. Solid computer skills (MS Word, PowerPoint, Excel) are required. Lawson HRIS and Greentree Applicant Tracking experience preferred. Experience supporting multi-state/locations is a plus.

Extensive travel (70-75%), which may involve overnight, is required for this job.
