Human Resources Generalist #242

The NPD Group, Inc (NPD) is a global market information company that measures product movement and consumer behavior across a broad range of industries ? apparel, automotive products, consumer electronics, cosmetics and fragrances, food, foodservice, footwear, housewares, information technology, interactive entertainment, toys, and music.

 

The HR Generalist is responsible for leading mid-large BU/Departments with more than 20 employees per department. He/She will act as the trusted business advisor with developing expertise in one or more HR disciplines. The HR Generalist will also have a dotted line relationship with a Group Head of at least one NPD division.

Overall Responsibilities: Translating business plans into HR strategies, policies, and operational plans. Advising BU/Department head on organization design, retention strategies and skill development strategies. Providing cost/benefit scenarios of various interventions. Ensuring BU/Department compliance with corporate policies and guidelines. Contributing to Business Review meeting through presentation of HR issues and goals. Making recommendations regarding policy enhancements and participating as a key resource in research, policy development, and execution. Ensuring BU/Departmental compliance with legal requirements. Managing departmental people expenses, including budgeting and forecasting headcount, compensation, recruiting ad other personnel expenses, and managing these expenses during the year. Ensuring the successful processing of hires, terminations, salary changes, and other processes and intervening when necessary to resolve issues. Resolving complex employee relations issues. Mentoring junior Generalists. Investing in activities and programs to develop professional competence of staff.

Qualifications: 5+ years experience BA/BS in Human Resources or equivalent. SPHR certification. Specialist in at least one area of HR topics. Knowledgeable of HR legal obligations. Ability to make independent decisions regarding policy interpretation (e.g. termination procedures, employee relations issues). Self-motivated team player skilled at building commitment and allocating resources to make change happen. Proven ability to design incentive/recognition programs with guidance from HR leadership. Excellent organizational and time management skills. Skilled at preparing and successfully completing complex, long-term project plans. Detail-oriented with the ability to successfully manage multiple priorities. Strong understanding of compensation benchmarking principles and methodologies. Trained in behavioral interviewing strategies. Excellent verbal and written communication skills. Strong presentation skills with the ability to present complex/sensitive issues to employees in large group settings. Strong MS Office (Word, PowerPoint, Excel).
