We seek an HR Manager with these qualities and more!
I. PURPOSE
To provide optimal human resources support for the purpose of making the business unit more successful.
II. EXPECTATIONS
Possesses ability to use intuition and instinct to handle HR issues using a problem solver approachServes as strong partner to General Manager and business unit managers; anticipates future needs of the business and recommends HR solutions to meet themEnforces policies and procedures and will assist in policy development as the organization grows and matures; handles local investigations of policy infractionsDirects and coordinates HR activities including, but not limited to, employment, compensation, benefits, training, employee relations, and labor relations; where applicable functions as front-line contact in union matters and interprets and enforces collective bargaining agreementGuides managers and employees through performance management process and is a cheerleader for corporate PM system; handles the Performance Improvement Plan (PIP) in necessary situationsFollows procedures for posting job openings within and throughout business units; strategizes with hiring managers for finding best candidates for openings; handles employment activities (recruiting, interviewing, reference checking, background checking, drug test, etc)Handles all exit interviews and recommends remedies if necessary; reports results to Corporate HRResponsible for business unit data gathering (census, compensation, turnover, cost-per-hire, exit interview stats, etc) that will help provide HR metrics at the Corporate levelHandles the maintenance of employee records required by law or local governing bodies Keeps current with labor legislation and industry trends in HR, the business and its industry; keeps up to date with labor market dynamics as well as business current eventsHandles local benefits administration including open and new employee enrollment, status changes, benefits? questions, and problemsWill be called on to assist Corporate Human Resources in enterprise-wide HR initiativesMust have the potential to supervise staff should business conditions warrant adding additional HR members or other team members requiring supervisionMust maintain a strong level of independent judgment and develop trust with managers and employees; must be resolute in handling confidential information
III. QUALIFICATIONS, SKILLS AND ATTRIBUTES
A minimum of 5 years of experience in a generalist human resources role with progressively larger responsibilities; experience warehouse/manufacturing setting is a plus.
Must be an effective manager and work well in a team environment; effective interpersonal skills (written, verbal, presentation and listening skills) are needed to work with and lead managers and employees. Solid conflict resolution skills are also a must. History of being trusted with and handling confidential and sensitive information.
Bachelors Degree, preferably in a related field
Additional HR training such as SHRM or World at Work coursework is preferable; HR certifications are also preferable
Travel as required to meet expectations of the position; may include travel to business units in other locations.
Attributes desired include integrity, assertiveness, persistence, self-starter, problem-solver and results-driven.
