About the Opportunity

 

Human Resources Manager - Insurance

(Northern NJ)




Selective Insurance is seeking a Human Resources professional to provide HR consultative services to assigned business segments demonstrating the value of human capital management in creating an ?employer of choice? work environment that achieves superior business results. The individual in this role will be responsible for providing:HR expertise in the areas of performance management, employee relations, leadership and professional development, organizational development, and employment law to create a culture that attracts and retains the best employees.  Customer service in identifying and resolving issues and/or taking advantage of opportunities as they arise to assist business segments in meeting their objectives.  And will also develop and implement action plans that strengthen business segment competitive advantage; communicate, train, and educate employees on HR policies, programs, and initiatives that support our business strategies.

 

This position is based at our Corporate Headquarters in New Jersey.

 



Some essential duties of these positions are as follows:

?  Provides human resources consultative support to assigned business segments in the areas of organization design, employee relations, talent identification and development, selection, retention, performance management, policy interpretation and administration, business consulting and partnering, and business planning.

?  Work in collaboration with the recruiting staff and business segment to ensure that the best talent is identified and on boarded.

?  Works with managers to identify human capital needs and opportunities by developing plans and implementing programs that positively impact business results.

?  Utilizes existing, or creates new tools and techniques to enhance and develop leadership skills for high potential employees within all levels of the company.

?  In conjunction and consultation with assigned business segments, develops and implements project plans/initiatives to establish the most effective organizational design and structure and staffing requirements in support of department business objectives.

?  Manages the rollout of corporate and departmental programs, policies, and initiatives to ensure consistent implementation and application of programs throughout the company.

?  Supports talent development by consulting with assigned business segments to identify training and development needs for all employees (including management); ensures development programs are communicated and administered throughout assigned areas; Works with department head to develop and/or support succession plans.

?  Assures all personnel and employment procedures are in full compliance with applicable state and federal statutes and corporate policies and guidelines.

?  Understands current employment laws impacting various employee related business decisions and processes.

?  Ensures ?pay-for performance? philosophy supports individual performance contribution

 

To be successful in this position, the following qualifications are required:

?  College degree/equivalent experience

?  5+ years of employee relations/human resources generalist experience

?  2-5 years insurance related experience within underwriting and claims

?  Superior verbal and written communication skills

?  Working knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint)

?  Public speaking skills and proven presentation experience.



Also preferred, are development experience with several of the following:SPHR or PHR certification
