Human Resources Specialist

Celebrating six decades of Making Cancer History, The University of Texas M. D. Anderson Cancer Center is located in Houston on the sprawling campus of the Texas Medical Center. It is one of the world's most respected centers devoted exclusively to cancer patient care, research, education and prevention.

M. D. Anderson was created by the Texas Legislature in 1941 as a component of The University of Texas System, and the faculty numbers 947 - both M.D.s and Ph.D.s. M. D. Anderson is one of the nation's original three Comprehensive Cancer Centers designated by the National Cancer Act of 1971 and is one of 39 such centers today.

M. D. Anderson ranks among the nation's top two cancer hospitals in U.S. News & World Reports 'America's Best Hospitals' survey since its inception 13 years ago.

Provides highly specialized investigative and human resources services to ensure institutional compliance with applicable Federal and State regulations and equal employment opportunity and affirmative action laws, Regents Rules, HR JCAHO regulations and UTMDACC HR policies.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

1. EEO and Other Complaints

Investigates internal EEO, workplace violence and Hotline complaints.

Investigates external EEO, DOL and other regulatory agency complaints.

Conducts effective investigations in accordance with established investigatory guidelines, to include: intake, development of action plan, interviews, data analysis, resolution, report writing and record keeping.

Keeps abreast of all regulatory and statutory requirements and laws related to EEO.

Manages ADA accommodation process.

Develops and delivers EEO training.

Manages federal and state mandated employment law poster process for the institution.

Partners with Legal on litigation.

Represents HR on 2-STOP committee.

2. Volume V Policies

Assists HR COEs in monitoring, developing and communicating HR institutional policies.

Prepares quarterly HR Policy status report.


3. Realignments

Conducts realignment organizational reviews: justification documents, separation agreements, and adverse impact analysis.

Manages administration of outplacement services.

4. HR JCAHO compliance.

Demonstrates full knowledge of HR JCAHO standards.

Partners with Office of Performance Improvement to ensure HR JCAHO compliance.

Develops and delivers training sessions to the HR Division on JCAHO standards.


5. Appeals

Manages all aspects of the institutional Appeal hearing process.



6. AAP

Keeps abreast of AAP regulations and requirements.

Assists the Office of Institutional Diversity on the development of the annual AAP.

Develops and delivers training sessions to HR Division on AAP standards.

EDUCATION:
Required:
Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university with major course work in Business or Public Administration, Human Resources Management, or closely related field.

Preferred:
Master's Degree with major course work in Business or Public Administration, Human Resources Management, or closely related.

EXPERIENCE:

Required:
Six (6) years experience in human resources, to include two (2) years responsible experience specializing in EEO.


Preferred:
Professional certification in the business field or Human Resources field, Certified Mediator, or HRCI (Human Resources Certification Institute) SPHR.
