PAYROLL SPECIALIST

Health Fitness Corporation, the leading provider of health improvement, health management & fitness services throughout the U.S. & Canada, has a great opportunity with growth potential for a full-time Payroll Specialist to join the Human Resources team in our Bloomington corporate office. 

 

This position will work as part of Human Resources team responsible for quality customer service & delivery of a high-volume, complex payroll. 

 

Responsibilities include:  Payroll processing from input to disbursement using ADP Enterprise Heavy time card processing via batches & support of process re-design & automation Processing special calculations & payments (pay rate changes, retro pay calculations, variable pay, stipends & manual checks) Data verification & audits to ensure transactional entries are accurate, timely & SOX compliant Report design & generation using ReportSmith & Access database Tax administration from set-up to researching issues and correcting errors Developing & implementing processes considering system capabilities & business needs Keeping abreast of the payroll processing system & changes in wage & tax laws Support HRIS/Payroll system planning, implementation, & on-going maintenance & upgrades Answering HR phone lines & assisting employees with questions and researching inquiries Create & maintain personnel & payroll files Provide back up support to other team members Other HR/Payroll duties & projects as assigned

 

Requirements for this position include:High School Diploma (Associates preferred) & 5 years payroll experience.  The equivalent combination of education & experience is acceptable Must possess a comprehensive knowledge of payroll & payroll tax regulations, federal & state income taxes, federal & state wage & hour regulations ADP Enterprise product knowledge required.  High volume (1000 +) payroll experience desired Payroll tax experience in a multi-company, multi-state environment desired Proficiency in Word & Excel required.  Access skills desired Time management with multi-tasking ability, strong customer focus, problem solving skills & the ability to work in a team environment Strong detail orientation Flexibility with work schedule as job requires
