Position Summary:
This individual will be responsible for all HR activities at two non-union plants (Litter and Charcoal) in the Mid-Western United States (total 225 employees, 30-50 contingent associates). The HR Manager will report functionally to the Group HR Manager for the Litter/Food/Charcoal/Glad Division and directly to the plant manager. The HR Manager will be responsible for the day-to-day HR operations of the plant in addition to the plant organizational assessment, long-term union avoidance strategy and regional and national HR strategic initiatives to drive the HR Objectives, Goals, Strategies and Tactics.
Key Responsibilities
Empowered Tactical Leader for Springhill. Responsible for design and upgrade of people systems in a traditional facility moving to a team based facility; including determining skill structure and associated wage structure, Performance Management and Planning (PMP) for Production Associate, policy development and employee communications. Primary resource for Empowered Tactical design for Belle; providing coaching and consulting.
Maintain positive labor environment. Employee/Labor Relations: Problem resolution processes in both facilities. This includes Employee / Supervisor coaching, management of claims against the plant, disciplinary investigation and due process, policy administration.
Regulatory compliance, including AAP, associated record keeping, and case management. Responsible for maintenance of all personnel records, update and maintenance of accurate job descriptions, management of unemployment records / experience rating, Payroll Administration, HRIS Management, Drug Policy Administration. Local Benefit design and Administration, including FMLA.
Actively participate/lead divisional and/or corporate project teams to identify opportunities, develop processes and systems to drive goals and objectives, and execute implementation to ensure success and sustainability.
Develop and/or execute training and Development (Production Associate Training, Technical Skill Training) and assisting/guiding Production T&Q Supervisor.
Increase bench strength by providing coaching, training and development for the Plants and Specialty management in order to leverage HR processes and tools.
Required Qualifications:
Minimum 7 years experience; 3 years manufacturing experience required, employee relations, government compliance, organizational design/effectiveness.
Bachelor's Degree Required
Advanced Degree in Business or HR specialty preferred.
HR Generalist experience in areas including, but not limited to: Employment laws, compensation, Employee Relations, Employee grievance management (ee advocacy), Liaison between the CoE & Shared HR resource, Coach to Line Managers, Workers' Compensation Case Management, Change management, Business changes, Development and delivery of training (both HR technical and soft skills), development and oversight of the application of handbook/polices, administration of due process, Gov't agency interaction, EEOC, OFCCP, OSHA, AAP Oversight, Performance Management, Safety, Staffing (hourly & salaried), and Demographics of workforce (Aging/retirement)
Leadership; full member of plant leadership team and divisional HR leadership team
Strategic thinking, process-orientation
Strong project management capability
Excellent interpersonal and communication (written and verbal) skills; able to effectively engage with all levels of organization and internal and external audiences.
Organizational effectiveness/design (work systems, work streams, organizational assessments) preferred
SAP experience preferred
