Project Scheduling Manager
We are looking for a Project Scheduling Manager to be based in our Newport Beach, CA headquarters. The Project Scheduling Manager will assist the Director of Project Scheduling in assigning SM&A consultants to meet the the company's commitment to deliver quality service to our clients.
Job Responsibilities:
Respond promptly to client and Account Executive staffing requests.
Make staffing recommendations that are appropriate to levels, skill sets, consultant goals, and enhance professional growth, ensuring all relevant and available candidates to support staffing needs and company goals.
Work closely with SM&A leaders in staffing client engagements, potential next assignments, making staffing decisions and resolving conflicts.
Balance the needs of SM&A consultants & clients for the purpose of maximizing utilization and the experience of the consultants.
Negotiate client assignment conflicts to satisfaction of all parties and resolve as appropriate.
Awareness of hour utilization requirements and pipeline outside of your staffing pool (practice area, region and or function) in order to maximize deployment and ensure best consultants are positioned for each opportunity.
Serve as SM&A consultants advocate on staffing calls: highlight available consultants skills & solicit staffing needs with Account Executives.
Continuous communication with consultants and management regarding assignments, future deployment, etc.
Understand Consultants skill sets and capabilities, development needs, and interests/goals.
Monitor and track skills matrix and resume maintenance.
Understand the sales pipeline in order to assess skills needed against current capacity.
Maintain a working knowledge of our business, markets, and services
Keep up to date with all company communications, changes in our business direction
Provide proactive analysis, insights and recommendations to leadership regarding capacity and deployment to better manage operating plan and resource decisions.
Provide appropriate and timely reporting & analysis to leadership ? projected hours/variance, availability, compliance
Ensure data in SM&A systems are accurate and updated in a timely manner.
Coordinate closely with consultants and leaders to track current availability status and variances.
Follow up on variances with consultants and leadership where appropriate.
Requirements:
This position requires strong communication and analytical skills. Word processing, spreadsheet and related software skills are required for this position.
Negotiation and conflict resolutions skills are important.
The ability to organize, evaluate and assess data, then make appropriate recommendations based on this review is essential.
Must be able to identify and respond to both operational and human resources issues within the company.
BA/BS degree preferred and a minimum of 5 years experience in professional service firm.
Experience with government, DOD, and scheduling for government clients helpful.
Strong listening and analytical skills necessary to resolve intricate staffing issues.
Strong communication and presentation skills.
Strong interpersonal traits including confidence, responsiveness, flexibility, initiative, decision making, conflict resolution and tact.
Ability to work independently and as a team member.
Ability to interact with all levels of personnel and work well under pressure.
Ability to work with confidential information.
Proficient in MS Excel, Word, PowerPoint.
Ideally, the candidate will have acquisition and source selection effort experience in a government RFP or Program Office. Former military officer is desired, preferably with a tour at the Pentagon as a detailer.
