Regional Human Resources Generalist

Midwest Research Institute (MRI), established in 1944, is an internationally acclaimed center for basic and applied research as well as technology development.  The work of our dedicated staff of scientists, engineers, and analysts transforms scientific and technological advances into solutions that benefit government and industry.  We partner with clients to provide scientific and technical resources to solve complex problems related to national security and defense, life sciences, pharmaceutical and product developments, applied engineering/systems integration, technology development, environment and energy research.  

 

Headquartered in Kansas City, Missouri, MRI has more than 1,800 employees.  The headquarters comprises 260,000 square feet of corporate, administrative, and research facilities.  More than 100 laboratories are equipped with scientific equipment and instrumentation worth $30 Million.  The Institute also has a nearby rural 78-acre site with 17,500 square feet of laboratory space in six special-purpose buildings for projects requiring extensive space.  Other offices and laboratories are located in Florida and Maryland.  In addition, MRI operates and manages the National Renewable Energy Laboratory in Colorado for the U.S. Department of Energy.

 



Job Scope 

? MRI is looking for a Regional Human Resources Generalist to provide support for Recruitment, Employee Relations, Regulatory Compliance, Performance Management, Compensation, and Training at an Off-site Regional Facility.

? The candidate in this position will work closely with Senior Management and maximize the strategic use of Corporate Human Resources.

? The candidate for this highly visible position will counsel employees and set the cultural tone through communication and human resource support for technical operations.

? The candidate will be responsible for interpreting policy and procedures for staff, ensuring regulatory compliance, and conducting orientation and training for employees.  Providing recruitment support for this highly regulated and employee-focused work group will be part of the daily routine. 

 

Qualifications

? Master?s or Bachelor?s degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, Marketing, or equivalent work experience in related field; at least 3 years of HR generalist training with a master?s degree or 6 years with a bachelor?s degree

? Human Resource background working with technical staff is extremely helpful, in addition to experience within an FFRDC environment and/or regulatory compliance within a classified facility

? Must exhibit proven experience in effectively working across organizational lines with exceptional interpersonal skills and flexibility in working with a diverse group at all levels of management

? Strong judgment and leadership abilities with strong problem-solving skills and a willingness to work in a multi-talented team environment

? Willing to travel as necessary

? Proven PC skills using browser-based Internet products and Microsoft technology for both personnel organization and the management of information

? Knowledge of Ceridian Human Resource Information System; Training Wizard a definite plus

? Applicant selected may be subjected to a government security investigation and required to meet eligibility requirements for access to classified information.  In order to meet the government security investigation requirements, U.S. citizenship is a prerequisite.  TS ? SCI preferred.
