Retirement Benefits Specialist

As a business partner, this position is responsible for providing technical research and analysis support. The Retirement Benefits Specialist will provide support to the Employee Benefits Department on the referral of complex issues and will be responsible for supporting technical functions within the Employee Benefits Department including 401(k) Plan, Non-Qualified Deferred Compensation Plan and Defined Benefit Plan matters.  Essential functions include:
Responds to participant questions that cannot be handled by retirement vendor.
Updates payroll and recordkeeping systems as necessary.
Assists Client Relationship Coordinators (CRC’s) and Customer Intervention Specialists (CIS’s) with questions and claims for retirement benefits in accordance with ERISA Claims Procedures through technical research, analysis and plan/policy interpretation.
Responsible for retirement plan processes and practices, including, but not limited to:
Setting up Hourly 401(K) Plan at new locations
Acting as liaison with Labor Relations Department with regard to collectively bargained retirement benefits, and with Human Resources during Labor Conversions
Maintaining Reporting & Disclosure Calendar for ARAMARK Controlled Group retirement plans
Overseeing outsourced administration of Qualified Domestic Relations Orders (QDRO’s)
Assisting with data quality review and error processing
Assisting with administration of defined benefit plans, including coordination of benefit calculations and annual census updates
Conducts training sessions for Customer Support Technicians and Client Relationship Coordinators on retirement plan administration matters.
Assists with periodic mailings and invoice processing.
Works closely with Retirement Plan Financial Analyst and Senior Benefits Consultant as needed on plan interpretation or specific cases involving plan decisions.
Serves as back up to Retirement Plan Financial Analyst.
Performs special projects and tasks as assigned.


BS/BA in Human Resources or related field, or equivalent experience.
Minimum of 6+ years of professional Retirement Plan experience.
Incumbent must possess knowledge and expertise in 401(k) and defined benefit plan administration, products, policies and procedures.
Understanding of applicable benefits-related legislation and regulations.
Exceptional customer service, organizational, and follow-up skills are required.
Excellent interpersonal skills with demonstrated capability to work with all levels of employees, management, human resources staff, and outside vendors on program implementation, service and problem resolution.
Proven results orientation ability with decision-making, judgement, and problem solving skills.
Ability to work well with a high volume of activity and as part of a team.
Strong analytical, communication, and computer skills are essential, including Word and Excel.
Demonstrated capability in presentation skills including verbal, written and computer-based presentations.
Benefits certification such as CEBS is highly desirable.
