Senior Payroll Clerk

The proposed merger with Golden West Financial Corporation (NYSE: GDW), parent of World Savings Bank, is expected to close in the fourth quarter of 2006, pending shareholder and regulatory approval. With this proposed merger, Wachovia would strengthen its position in California, Texas, Florida, New Jersey and New York, and enter attractive metropolitan areas in five additional states: Arizona, Colorado, Illinois, Kansas and Nevada. The combined company would serve banking customers through 3,400 offices in 21 states and Washington, D.C. In addition, Wachovia would gain mortgage lending operations under the World Savings Bank name in 39 states.

Requirements:

In this position, you will be responsible for providing generalist support to selected client groups with HomEq upon closing of the Sale of HomEq to Barclays. You will partner with the leaders of one or more business units to develop/implement HR strategies and perform HR generalist functions that result in the improvement of the business unit?s performance. Duties include managing employee relations cases from initial issue identification through proper resolution; responding to internal, 3rd party and agency complaints; building collaborative, trusting and credible relationships with the Business Unit Leadership team and all HR partners; operating as a fully contributing member of the Business Unit Leadership Team as a strategist, team player and partner; and leading, participating and supporting cross-functional teams within the business unit. In addition, you will act as an expert resource on the development, deployment and management of HR policies and issues; design and facilitate group processes to deliver best solution to client; identify organizational problems and design effective/efficient interventions; and identifying/elevating system-level issues. You will also consistently practice the phases of OD from entry through implementation; effectively facilitate groups; recognize and work through conflict/resistance; help leaders adapt and implement change efforts for the business unit; and partner with Learning Specialists to identify, analyze and deliver appropriate and cost effective business unit specific job skills. Other duties include, but are not limited to: partnering with business unit management to identify/contract for intervention analysis and performance-based training programs, identifying and recommending training solutions to ensure the achievement of business unit goals; consulting with Business Unit leaders to drive manager and employee behavior toward more effective/efficient performance management processes which improve employee morale and business unit productivity; and coaching managers on leadership practices.

BA/BS in business or human resource management or equivalent in education and directly related work experience are necessary. Strong knowledge of state and federal labor laws required. Five years? HR consulting experience; proven organizational consulting skills; and proven ability to maintain effectiveness when experiencing major change in work tasks or the work environment are necessary. Must be able to adjust effectively to work within new work structures, processes, requirements or cultures. Ability to clearly convey information and ideas through a variety of media to individuals/groups in a manner that engages the audience and helps them understand/retain the message is essential. Ability to effectively uses appropriate interpersonal styles and techniques to gain acceptance of ideas or plans is also required, as well as the ability to identify/understand issues/ opportunities and develop, use and promote collaborative relationships to facilitate the accomplishment of work goals. PHR/SPHR certification strongly preferred.
