Job Title: Sr. Compensation Consultant
Job Summary:
Administers Fannie Mae’s salary administration programs including employee pay, short and long term incentive programs, bonus and variable pay. Utilizes a variety of internal and external compensation data to ensure Fannie Mae’s programs are compliant with company policy and government regulations, are market competitive and are consistent with the organization’s total rewards objectives. Identifies, responds to and manages the compensation needs of the employees within a specific business unit(s). Provides subject matter expertise in the following specialty areas – pay equity, incentive pay, variable pay and/or job analysis.
Principle Duties and Responsibilities:
? Provides compensation services and support to assigned business unit(s) management
? Acts as primary point of contact for business unit(s) management (e.g., managers, directors) for compensation issues. Includes project management, program administration, analysis and design and implementation of compensation programs.
? Ensures that compensation policies and practices are applied consistently and appropriately to assigned business unit(s) staff
? Advises/recommends solutions to senior management regarding potential conflicts with the total rewards philosophy relative to pay programs being delivered throughout the organization
? Provides oversight and guidance to management during the annual compensation process, including salary planning, incentive programs (short-term and long-term equity) and communication
? Writes job descriptions and analyzes/evaluates jobs to establish equitable compensation guidelines within the corporation as compared to the industry
? Fosters relationships with HR Business Partners and division management to understand their goals and objectives while balancing these needs against total rewards philosophy
? Participates in the design and implementation of various compensation programs
? Educates business unit(s) and HR on compensation philosophy and programs to ensure compliance with corporate guidelines
? Identifies issues in current processes and/or policies and recommends corrective or alternative actions to resolve compensation-related issues

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
? Strong knowledge of Fannie Mae HR policies and rewards programs
? Expert understanding of compliance and regulatory issues regarding employee pay and data
? Knowledge and experience in compensation administration work flow and data management
? Experienced in utilizing HR technology applications relevant to pay administration
? Expert knowledge of job evaluation, market pricing, compensation data sources, analytic and reporting techniques
? Ability to interface effectively with senior leadership with a high level of executive influence on issues relating to compensation and total rewards issues
? Ability to understand the unique needs of each business unit(s), and to develop a targeted strategy to meet those needs
? Ability to maintain data integrity and confidentiality when exchanging information with internal and external contacts
? Ability to adapt to changing business needs, adjust pace of work, and tolerate ambiguity
? Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously with strong results/goal orientation
? Strong interpersonal, written and oral communication skills and the ability to work effectively with a wide range of constituencies in a diverse community
? Ability to use rigorous logic and methods to solve difficult problems with effective solutions
? Ability to work closely with others as part of a team while being able to take full responsibility for a task
? Excellent organizational skills
Required Qualifications:
? Bachelor’s degree in employee benefits and/or human resources management is required
? Five to Seven years experience in a compensation consulting or administration role
? Experience utilizing compensation survey databases and model tools is required
? Experience using software tools to extract, analyze and report data (Microsoft Word, Excel, Access, etc.) is necessary
